Paper Title : Combined Economic and Emission Dispatch Using Multiobjective Particle Swarm Optimization with SVC Installation

Abstract : This paper presents an effective method for optimal power flow (OPF) of combined economic and emission dispatch by employing multiobjective particle swarm optimization for a standard IEEE 30 bus system. The harmful ecological effects caused due to emission of particulate and gaseous pollutants from fossil fuel power plants, can be reduced by proper load allocation among the various generating units. Particle Swarm Optimization is employed for minimization of total cost which includes economic dispatch and emission component. For improved performance of the power system Static Var Compensator (SVC) is installed in the IEEE 30 bus system. Results for optimization of total cost with and without SVC installation by considering the limits on generator real and reactive power outputs, bus voltages and transformer tapings have been obtained.
