Abstract : With Moores law supplying billions of transistors on chip, embedded systems are undergoing a transition from single core to multicore to exploit this high transistor density for high performance. The main objective of developing a High Performance Energy Efficient Multicore Embedded Computing is to satisfy both Performance and the Power which is the first order constraint for Embedded Systems. To achieve this objective, this paper outlines typical requirements of embedded applications and provides state of the art hardware/software high performance energy efficient embedded computing (HPEEC) techniques that help meeting these requirements. Finally, this paper presents design challenges and future research directions for HPEEC system development. This paper is a literature review of a High Performance Energy Efficient Multicore Embedded Computing. The techniques reported by the researchers till date is encouraging and motivate further research in this domain.
Keywords : High performance computing (HPC), multicore, energy efficient computing, low power embedded systems.
